I thought we might all need a little colour on a dull Monday, so let’s have a little interlude to this dreadful weather and talk knitting and colour! But first, did you had a good weekend? Did you squeeze some knitting or crochet into your time off? I made some good progress knitting @yarnison test knit during car journeys. I won’t share too much about the test knit just yet, other than I am loving it and I can’t wait to wear it! I will share my colour choices with you however - pink! |

What I can tell you is that is an addictive knit, with an easy pattern to memorise. It also gives you the opportunity to combine two totally different textures into one shawl. I am using mohair and boucle and needless to say it is soft and incredibly cuddly! I have seen photos of other test knitters work and they all look amazing. I also snuck in some rows of my Guernsey Sweater Sock. I am loving this and I have knit in the Moelfre sock colourway. It felt appropriate to use a colourway inspired by one of my favourite harbour villages, which I think is appropriate when knitting cables, don’t you think? I have linked the pattern below - it’s part of Summer Lee’s Hello Sailor sock pattern bundle. |

I am going to knit the Petiteknit boucle bag soon and so have my eye on the Afflecks for this! |

My mohair stock has also been replenished with some old favourites back by popular demand, such as Whaley Bridge Post Office and Monet’s Water Lilies. |

Did you know that Tin Can Knits now have an app? I didn’t, until one of my lovely knit group friends shared it with our group. The app shares free patterns, links to paid patterns, technical support and glossary, plus the opportunity to share your makes and link up with knitters. I love the simplicity of Tin Can Knit patterns, with the Beloved Hat being one of my all time faves. |

If you are thinking ahead to the Autumn (as I write this it is raining and so windy outside!) then the Birke Shawl is a fantastic asymmetrical shawl which will make a relaxing mindful project. Designed by one of my favourite designers, Jonna Hietala of the Nuuk pullover fame. You can use two plies of mohair. Imagine the alchemy of blending variegated and semi solid colours together - or indeed two variegated? Go and have fun, bust some stash or feel free to look at the mohair I have in stock. |

Another inspiring pattern which is a favourite with customers is the Elton Pullover by Joji Locatelli. A customer recently selected yarn in Mamie’s House colourway to make this sweater. I imagine this to be light and beautifully delicate. I also love the idea of a semi solid singles with a contrasting mohair stripe, such as Under the Gunnera singles with The Ducks Stained Glass at Victoria Baths - the possibilities are endless! Something I definitely want to make soon. |

I will be back in Chorlton this Saturday 15th June, 10am to 4pm. I once met a pug there called Michael Pugless and last month a giant cockatoo called Sky. I always look forward to meeting yarn friends and animals alike! If you are in the area I do recommend Chorlton market; it’s a lovely atmosphere. It also has some great shops I love to visit when I am there, such as Barbakan Deli - amazing almond croissant, bread and olives, and the wonderful Unicorn Grocery for delicious fresh veg, ethically sourced produce and peoples’ co-operative. If you like Wholefoods you will love Unicorn! |

Zebra Sale |

I have a limited stock room, and as we creep closer to Autumn I will be filling it with super warm fibres. Therefore, something has to give! I love Zebra yarn - it’s a wonderful fun yarn, 100% Merino, light and warm. It makes perfect one skein shawls (see here) or adds contrast colour to yokes (think Laerke Bagger) but I won’t be dyeing any more in the near future, so I have reduced this by 20%. Did you also know that there is free shipping for orders over £60? |

Ellen is a super quick knitter and designed these socks herself using limited edition Street Art in the 10th on BFL sock yarn. When the pattern is released I will share the details with you. |

Made using Ice Wind in Reykjavik BFL sock, Emma made this fab pair of Bad Batch Socks. The pattern is inspired by Star Wars films that the designer’s family love. I have also linked Marie’s tutorial to the stitch pattern in the resources below. B |

Emma also knit Jane Murison’s Manhole Socks in Dale Street BFL Sock - this colourway will return in the Autumn, a lovely rich colourway inspired by the brick buildings of Dale Street in Manchester - Kinder Scout is a great alternative colourway in the meantime. I love the detail in these socks - heels and toes reminiscent of manhole covers. Magan (aka @megourney.weaver) has finished the amazing pomegranate weave she was still weaving when I shared it with you last time. Boucle really does make a fab fibre for weaving - the texture is just wonderful, and looks great mixed with less slubby and loopy fibres within the weave. Take a look at Megan’s work and be inspired. |
