We are going to Kefalonia!
It is time to head to the beautiful island of Kefalonia. Famous for aqua seas, cloudless skies and of course, the home of Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
We are meeting in Fiskado, a small and colourful harbour town with little winding streets leading to squares with cafes and restaurants.
To get there however, we are chartering a boat from Argostoli rather than taking the perilous mountain roads! Our times is for gentle walks around Fiskardo, boat trips, good food and of course good company.
Day One
Arrive in Kefalonia and take the boat around the island from Agostoli to Fiscardo.
We settle into our luxury accommodation, a fabulous spa resort overlooking the ocean; the Emelisse Nature Reserve
After an afternoon of relaxation and knitting we dine at the Votsalo restaurant over looking the sea as the sun sets. This gives us the chance to catch up, swap knit notes and have a good giggle. This break is all about relaxation and a little pampering.
Day Two
For those who want to join me, we meet on the roof top for early morning yoga and meditation as the sun rises before dipping in the infinity pool before breakfast.
We then pack our yarn and projects for a trip to Fiscardo where we take a spot in the restaurant over looking the town square. There we knit and take lunch before a walk along the harbour.
For our evening meal we charter a boat to take us on a gentle cruise on the Ionian sea. Imagine the chinking of the sails against masts as we gently float as the heat of the sun eases. It would be rude not to enjoy and indulge in a couple of ouzos as our yacht takes us back to shore.
I have booked us a table at Elli's on the harbour front for our evening meal, what a gorgeous day!
Day Three
Early morning we head to the most idyllic and picturesque Mrytos Beach to dive in the sea and swim with the turtles! Our hotel has packed us the most delicious picnic breakfast we eat from hampers on blue and white cloths, we are living the Greek dream.
We spend hours relaxing, swimming and knitting.
Lunch is at NEFELI-ANAIT before heading back to the Emelisse Nature Resort for our pre-booked spa treatments and evening meal over looking the sea - we need to make the most of these warm light evenings with friends! The yarn is out!
Day Four
If like me you were mesmerised and adored Captain Correli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernieres you will love our day planned visiting sites we only imagined when reading the book. Yesterday we visited Myrtos Beach where the Turkish bomb was found by Correli.
Today we take a trip to Dikhalia is where we reminisce about the home of our heroine Pelagia before heading to Chorgota beach to read and knit with our Kefalonia inspired yarn.
Our yarn is inspired by the blues of the sea and the colours we find in the town and surrounding area. I hope you love it.
This is our last day on Kefalonia before flying back home. Time for one last night night under the stars. Let's come back soon, the rest and relaxation has been wonderful.
