Welcome to the last Travel Club Yarn of 2025!
Before I whisk you off on your next adventure I thought it would be a good time to answer a couple of frequently asked questions.
Making Changes to your Subscription
I understand that you may want to pause or cancel your subscription if you have been a subscriber for a while, I totally understand. I would like to thank you wholeheartedly for coming on this journey with me.
You can make the changes yourself - your very first email will advise how to pause or cancel or I can do this for you.
Just drop me an email please and I can make changes for you. To avoid a direct debit being taken 1st January please email me before 30.12.2025 : amy@mamieandflorrie.co.uk
Thank you.
Changes to The Travel Club
I will be making a small change to your parcels from January and this is the paper flyer you receive with your parcel.
This will be digital only, you will find it here on my BLOG page.
Since I started the Travel Club my raw material costs have increased quite a leap; from yarn to packaging and printing. I don't want to pass this cost increase to you.

Let's Travel - December 2025 Meet Me in Reykjavík
Day 1
Meet me in Reykjavik! We are going to explore the Icelandic Golden Circle
We are staying in the Hotel Reykjavík Edition a stunning modern building overlooking the harbour. Perfect for watching the impressive winter sunrises and sunsets.

Having flown in late the night before, we meet first thing in the morning to head out for breakfast. There are so many good coffee shops and bakeries in Reykjavik and we head towards Sandholt Bakery and enjoy a skyr bowl, cinnamon roll, or sourdough with smoked salmon if you prefer.
After a hearty breakfast we visit Reykjavík’s iconic church Hallgrímskirkja and take the lift to the top for panoramic city and ocean views.

As is the culture to stay warm, it is also the of love knitting and selling yarn - we must take a walk down the colourful street Skólavörðustígur full of boutiques, Icelandic design shops, and galleries and there is so much yarn to see in so many shops. Yarn ranges from Lopi to local rustic spun yarn in natural colours.

We then head to the The National Museum of Iceland (history & culture) before going to taking lunch at Sægreifinn (Sea Baron for lobster bisque and views of the harbour.
We spend a leisurely afternoon visiting Tjörnin & City Hall the perfect places to learn more about the Icelandic culture and knit!
Evening meal at Apotek for delicious Icelandic cuisine and then onto .
Day 2
Time to get ready for an amazing adventure!
For ease we have breakfast in the hotel and then making our way to our rental cars and The Golden Circle.
First we visit Þingvellir National Park where we walk between the North American & Eurasian tectonic plates. I visited years ago and it really is fascinating and if you haven't been it's so worth reading up on. We walk across to the historic site of Iceland’s first parliament

Next we visit the Öxarárfoss waterfall.
Back in the cars and it's Geysir Geothermal Area to watch Strokkur erupt every 5–10 minutes! Don't go close or touch it, they are so dangerous!

Our last stop of The Golden Circle is Gullfoss Waterfal, one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls.

Drive back to Reykjavik for a relaxed evening meal at the hotel - it's been a long and wonderful day.

Day 3
I am going to suggest we spend a relaxed day at Sky Lagoon...but get there early to see if we can catch the Northern Lights and the sunrise. As it's a relaxed day we can spend time in and out of the lagoon.

The Sky Lagoon is a geothermal spa inspired by Icelandic nature, heritage, and history. It is located only minutes from the city centre and offers a dramatic yet stunning views across the North Atlantic Ocean.
We take the Ritual, a unique seven-step experience that guides you through the history of Icelandic bathing culture. Over the centuries, it has been developed a way to combine the healing powers of warm water, cold water, warm steam, dry heat and fresh air.

There is nothing to stop us taking our knitting with us to the spa. Imagine knitting with a coffee and those views?
After and amazing blissful and relaxing day we head back to the hotel to freshen up and take our last meal in Reykjavik before heading home in the morning.
Our evening meal is a special one, we dine at Dill - a gastronomical delight!
And because it's out last night we go to enjoy late night music at Hurra!
Some time ago I read Burial Rites by Hannah Kent, fiction novel based on the true story of Agnes Magnusdottiur. I won’t spoil this for you but I really recommend this book if you are looking for something to read between Christmas and New Year. I loved the book so much it inspired me to visit in 2016.
Happy days!
See you next month!
