Happy Easter, Happy Spring!

Wow, what a gorgeous day it is!  As I write this the sun is shining and it is most definitely Spring out there.  I am going to keep this short as I am sure you are desperate to be in the sunshine (I am going to clear the garden furniture and create this year's outdoor knitting den!), so let me tell you quickly...

Tomorrow I will be taking my yarns to the wonderful Food and Arts Market (the FAB) in my home town of Whaley Bridge. If you fancy a trip to the Peak District why not come along on Saturday and say hello.  I will be in the Transportation Warehouse at the Canal Basin from 10am to 4pm, with yarn and colour and ideas and inspiration.  You could come and say hello, have a yarny chat, grab some food and take a wonder along the canal.

If you are unable to get to Whaley Bridge then I have updated my website with lots of new yarn. I've got new fresh colourways for exciting Spring projects - from merino singles to DK and Zebra. There's lot of new yarn to enjoy.
There's plenty of bright and colourful bright colourways inspired by cityscapes, such as Afflecks and Diamond Matrix below.
And some more muted and delicate options too, such as Kinder sock yarn on the left and Anglesey Coastal Path on the right - I love colour, all colour, bright and delicate.
You may have noticed that my sock yarns have new names - Adventure Sock, Soft Sock, Luxury Sock and Strictly Sparkle!

Adventure Sock is my 75% Bluefaced Leicester /  25% Nylon sock base - a good strong all rounder.  A sock base I would recommend for a long walk and a stronger boot, a great all rounder for socks and garments alike.

Soft Sock is my 75% Merino / 25% Nylon base - a warm, soft and cosy sock, perfect for a less aggressive wear.

Luxury Sock is my Yak base, 70% Merino / 20% Merino / 10% Nylon and oh so soft, smooth and lustrous.  Yak wool fibres are almost as fine as cashmere making it one of the smoothest and most luxurious fibres available.  Taken from the down of the yak fleece it is incredibly soft, strong and resilient, making it a perfect fibre to blend with merino and nylon to create a sock yarn. Just gorgeous.

Strictly Sparkle has a silver sparkle - think dancing socks!  75% Merino / 20% Nylon / 5% Stellina to give that extra sparkle. When I think of this base I think of taffeta frills and dancing shoes with all things buckles and glitter!

Event News

April is going to be an exciting month and I am very much looking forward to being out and about, meeting lovely yarn enthusiasts and being outdoors in the sunshine - happy days!   So here's April's line up - and don't forget, if you are thinking of coming to Wonderwool get your tickets in advance - it makes getting in to halls full of yarn all the quicker!
The same applies for the re-scheduled Buxton Wool Gathering, now Sunday 7th and Monday 8th May - the Coronation weekend.  There are Bank Holiday celebrations in Buxton and the Pavilion Gardens, so plenty to do for all the family.  Buxton in May is beautiful, as is the whole of the Peak District, so it's well worth a visit, especially if you enjoy walking and being in the outdoors.
Please also visit my website for my events list - it's going to be a fun year!  Links also below for ticket information.
Your Makes!

This time I have finished a project to show you. It's taken a while but I have finished my Nuuk using my Toodbrook Dam DK - pattern link below.  Did you also know that Nuuk is the capital of Greenland?  Just in case you're on Who Wants to be a Millionaire and it's the winning question. Don't answer knitwear - answer Greenland.

I will be getting a lot of wear out of this little jumper. It's great for layering over long sleeve tops and popping over a dress too.  I just have the ends to weave in of my DRK Everyday Cowl, and I'll be able to show you that next time. I think that will also be a much used pattern.
And so now I am going to leave you to enjoy the sunshine and the Easter weekend. I'm off to buy some chocolate!
Please keep sharing photos of your creations using Mamie and Florrie yarn. It is so lovely to see what you make. Why not use the #mamieandflorrieyarn hashtag and others can get inspiration too.
