Meet me at the Munch Museum - we are going to Oslo!
Okay, so I made no secret of the fact that I loved, adored and loved even more my visit to Oslo this Spring.
It was everything and more than I expected. Clear skies, pleasantly quiet, clean full of art, yarn and the sauna and swim. It is no surprise that I want to take you and so in September this is where we go.
Your yarn is inspired by art, by Munch, his self portrait, of course the colours of The Scream, (possibly one of the most haunting paintings I have seen in a long time) and the stunning installations in the museum when I visited in May.
So, let's meet at The Munch museum.
We are enjoying a short two day break taking in cultural and an amazing yarn tour of Oslo!
Day One
Oslo is small and super easy to get around. We take and express train from the airport to the city centre. From the station it is a 10 minute walk to the harbour where the Munch Museum awaits. It's structurally beautiful.

But first, coffee in the restaurant while over looking the city. Oslo bright, crisp, clear and exhilarating. Fresh, blue and inspiring.

We take the morning to view the art gallery. The Scream has been famously stolen from the gallery twice now so security is tight! There are three versions of The Scream which are available to see for a few minutes only, appearing from behind a curtain and only one at a time can be viewed. We can spend hours exploring The Munch, we are in no rush so we relax, enjoy and re-group for lunch when we are ready.

Having spent a wonderful morning at The Munch it is time to check into our hotel.
We are staying in the Citybox hotel. It's a comfortable and reasonable hotel. Centrally located with easy access to the tram stops, harbour and yarn shops. After all, this is a yarn crawl holiday! From our rooms we can knit and watch city life below.

An afternoon yarn shopping, we take in;
Fru Kvist - only a short walk from the hotel. An upmarket yarn store filled with books, inspiration and beautiful yarn.

Followed by Strikkedilla
This is a mid range store with a great range of Sandnes yarns, patterns and super lovely customer service.

We have time for just a few stores on our first day because in the evening I have booked us a Taste of Oslo walking food tour! We enjoy our evening visiting wonderful eateries before turning in at the end of day one, ready for a packed second day.
Day Two - Sauna!
KOK Sauna is a MUST! We meet early for the first sauna at 7.00am. It's quiet and all ours. This is heaven. We watch the sunrise over the harbour and relax in the warmth of the wood burning stove. We are gifted with the chance to jump into the crystal clear harbour and swim. We have 90mins of relaxation and warmth before heading back to Skippergata for pastries and coffee for breakfast.

Yarn tour continues!
Pickles Yarn Store - a cool, inspirational store with a young funky vibe.

Pickles in such a cool part of town, where the cool kids hang out.

After Pickles we visit the reasonably priced and inspirational store Strikefeber

A quick bite, we've the biggest store to visit! Simple food done well. And the whipped salted butter can't be missed!

Saving the largest store until last. We take a bus to Garntopia!

We spend hours in here, it takes hours just to ponder, plan and purchase!

And so, after a wonderful afternoon we take the bus back into town and a chance to sit and enjoy a knit in natter in a local coffee shop.
Early evening we make our way back to the airport, time to book more baggage allowance because this was a yarn tour!
