New bases!

Introducing Plush & Suri Alpaca Silk DK

August is flying by, and so far I've had a great time up at the North East Wool Show, I've introduced new Mamie and Florrie Sequin STARS, I've starting working on the August Travel Club Subscription, and most excitingly: I've been hard at work dyeing not one, but two new bases in all your favourite Mamie and Florrie coloury staples!

I am also dragging out the last sunshine hours of summer by sitting outside after work, and catching up with my knitting, with Wodge by my side.

Say Hello to the super soft Plush and the heavenly Suri Alpaca Silk DK!

These two young yarns are currently being dyed in all your favourite colourways: Swizzels, Vinoy Park, Ice Swim at Combs and more.

Both of these will soon be joining June's new addition: Bounce, which is available in many gorgeous colourways on my website. So stay tuned to the Mamie and Florrie Instagram page to find out when new colourways will be released!

Introducing: Suri Alpaca Silk DK

Suri Alpaca Silk DK is a premium fibre with a rich and luxurious texture. A blend of 90% Suri and 10% Silk. This velvety yarn would be perfect for shawls, sweaters, hats: anything you want to a touch of luxury and softness too.

I have knit a very quick and easy beanie this week using this gorgeous yarn. I used Vinoy Park colourway, it's so light and warm, I know I will be living in it soon!

Introducing: Plush

Plush is springy, soft and strong. It is made of 100% Merino Wool single ply construction and is perfect for hats, scarves, jumpers: all chunky knits!

Thinking of the big event in December (which I refuse to mention just now) this yarn would make great quick hats and cowls to give as gifts.

Also new to the shop: Mamie and Florrie's Shine Like a STAR! sequins

Introducing Shine like a STAR! These lovely sequins can be just what you need to transform that project that just needs something a little bit extra.

I took the gorgeous Pappus Shrug sample to the North East Wool Show. Knit in just one strand of Vinoy Park mohair and a strand of sequins. It was much admired and makes a great knit for the party season.

I also gave a little sparkle to our favourite Teddy Clutch using a strand of Bounce in Ice Swim at Combs and a strand of sequin Stars.

Today sees the release of the much awaited Oh my Kaftan pattern by Anna Enge. Knit using a fluff yarn held with sequins, I absolutely love this kaftan and can't wait to knit one.

North East Show 2025:

What can I say about the North East Show! It was lovely as ever to be back in my native North-East and to see so many old and new friends.

I had some special edition stitch markers made by Yarnistry in my favourite Geordie words - the words I miss hearing every day! They flew off the shelves so those of you who missed out will be pleased to hear that they are coming back this week as a permanent feature!

I know how much some of you love Roka's bags and accessories, so you surely must be as excited as I was to learn that I will be one of the first retailers to stock and sell Roka's new Autumn/Winter range of colours!

Though I am not yet at liberty to share the product pages or photographs of the new stock, I want you to imagine earthen tones, oceanic shades, and as always, fiery vibrance!
